Buyer's Guide: Best Rod And Reel Combos Under $100

Buyer's Guide: Best Rod And Reel Combos Under $100

There are some amazing budget combos this year! 3 brands have really stepped up and created amazing options for anglers looking to spend $50 on a rod or reel. We applaud these brands for making affordable gear for both entry level bass fisherman and anglers on a budget. If you’re looking for the best “bang for the buck” in budget bass fishing, look no further than today’s buyer’s guide.

The past year has shown a real swing in the market. More and more brands are recognizing the influx of junior high through college anglers and are building equipment geared toward them. 3 of these brands really stand out with excellent gear for the price. In today’s video we did not pair up each combo. Instead, we focused on 3 casting rods, 2 spinning rods, 2 spinning reels, and 1 casting reel.

As more companies come on board with high quality gear at an entry level price our selections will grow but for 2019, these are the items that are worth investing in. Below you will find links to all of the gear. The links go direct to Tackle Warehouse where you can find detailed descriptions of each item. 1. I’m still deciding between the aird-x and the cellus (baitcaster)… can you guys give me some advice?

  2. Hey brother like always your videos are awesome! Hey is there any way that you can review on the new Daiwa Procyon baitcasting rod? Im introduced on purchasing one but not sure. Put if you are able to show it up close just to see the details on it. When Tackle Warehouse did the inteo they didn’t even show the rod up close! If you are able too thank you in advance!

  3. Got a daiwa revros and a shimano Sellus rod coming in the mail. You guys sold me on ordering the rod

  4. Love you guys and this channel. I do have to say though, y’all snubbed Abu Garcia the Max Series. Imo and after torture testing for almost 2 years, they are as solid as any reel under 100 bucks. Not the highest gear ratio, but haven’t had any issues. Countless 4 lbs, and atleast 30 that were in the 5-7 lbs range including a 7/7 last year on the silvermax.

I’ve fished almost daily, maybe missed a total of 5 days from late Feb-Nov last year, and since late Feb this year. Mostly over 4 hours up to dusk to dawn on 4 Abu reels. 2 Silvermax, one Blackmax, and Maxwinch. All 4 have held up to everything I’ve thrown at them! Bank cranking 5XD Strike King 15 ft, punching, frogging, and had zero issues.

    I would highly recommend them!

  5. I’d save up for an slx or Fuego. It’ll be less than 150 but be leagues better than the reel you chose. That reel feels garbage compared to the Fuego or slx but I totally understand your point and you guys did hit it pretty good for sticking to the price range. I’ve just learned from previous mistakes that if you want to learn how to use Casting gear or need a cheap set up spend the 100+ on the reel. Good job guys.

  6. What about the Penn pursuit 3 series? Or the Fierce 3? Especially as a combo, in my opinion the best bang-for-your-buck combos under $100.

  7. hello guys im about to purchase a Shimano Curado DC Casting Reel 151HG and was hoping u can recommend a rod that will be an all around for cranking and spinerbait along with lipless and chatter baits i would like an all around rod for those type of baits, thank u

  8. I just bought a sellus and arid x with daiwa regal lt and daiwa rg2500ab to add some spinners to my collection.. can’t wait to try them out.

  9. Thank you for all you do tactical bassin I’m a big fan on a little budget. Merry Christmas!

  10. If you are super cheap. I recommend the graphite series bass pro rod. I have the 7 foot medium.

  11. Even these guys were spoiled. I grew up in the Zebco 202 and Johnson world of the 60 -70’s!

  12. I just ordered a abu Garcia silver max reel then a ugly stik gx2 can’t wait for them to arrive

  13. Sorry I just had one more question, do you think the abu garcia black max would pair ok with that medium heavy shemano reel? Or is the abu garcia max not even a good reel to pair with anything?

  14. If good spinning reels….why can’t you turn the handle smoothly on them? Looks like you were really struggling to turn the handles on both.

  15. Which one is the best. I am leaning towards the Diowa rod and reel, but is the blue one better?

  16. For the money it’s hard to hear ugly stik for me. Pair it up with a penn reel and I have a very dependable set up.

  17. A few years ago Shimano changed the design of the Sedona (and Sahara), 2 of my go-to reels, by shortening the shaft from reel seat to reel and it destroyed the reel! I’m 6′ 3" and have some pretty big hands. I can no longer fish Shimano spinning reels. I get blisters. BUT….because of thsi I discovered Daiwa reels – the Revros in particular. Awesome reel. Also have the CC80 (4 of them) as they are the longest casting BCs I’ve ever owned AND most of my other reels are higher end ($150 to $200) Lews. Lews reels are great, but you can’t beat the price of the CC80 – or even the CG. I’m going to pick up a Sellus rod as soon as they are back in stock at Tackle Warehouse Any recommendation for throwing medium cranks like a Deep Lil N? Thanks guys

  18. Where is a good website to get rods and reels since tackle warehouse has most of there stuff on back order

  19. Is the shimano sellus good for my first finesse fishing setup? Thinking of pairing it up with a NASCI or a sahara with the rear drag, thoughts?

  20. Looking fun a good casting rod between these 3 sellus/ exage/ or slx. Any advice on best bang for the buck ?

  21. Hello friends. My question to people with experience in fishing with spinning technology is what is the best fishing rod with a length of 3 meters

  22. And the pro qualifier is 119 and I think the Korean reel is better. I think daiwa uses China to manufacture the cheap stuff. I could be wrong but the pro qualifier is better than the daiwa cc80.

  23. Hi guys, just started following you. Love these videos. I am new to freshwater fishing. Can you tell me are these strictly freshwater?

  24. Bought the shimano sellus baitcasting rod on y’all’s recommendation. Owned it for about three months before one of the middle guides broke off. (I take care of my rods). Love the sensitivity of the rod. Not sure about its durability. Maybe I just got unlucky?

Appreciate y’alls content! As a financially challenged grad student, this video was awesome.

  25. You recommend the diawa revros LT 2500 in the video but in the description you wrote was a diawa revros LT 2000. So do you recommend the LT 2500 or the LT 2000?
